The meeting of the Guardianship Council of the KFU was held in Kazan

(KZN.RU, March 9, Anton Nozdrin). The meeting of the Guardianship Council of the Kazan (Privolzhsky) Federal University was held in the capital of Tatarstan. The meeting was held in the assembly hall of the Institute of Psychology and Education under the conduction of Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT. Asgat Safarov, the head of the Office of the President of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, heads of republican ministries and departments attended the meeting.

Before the meeting, the members of the Guardianship Council inspected the infrastructure of the university. “We saw that serious reconstruction work is being done at the facilities. We saw the process of training specialists, in which the most advanced technologies are used”, R. Minnikhanov addressed in his welcome speech to the participants of the meeting. The President of the RT noted that the work in the medical field is impressive. According to him, the former military hospital, transferred to the KFU about six months ago, will become a good medical center.

R. Minnikhanov also spoke about the topic of the teachers’ training. “Scientific and educational sites are impressive. The necessary infrastructure for the training of teachers of different directions is created for a unified approach to the training of specialists in the Institute of Psychology and Education. The training should meet all modern challenges”, marked the head of the republic. In addition, the President noted that the Center for Islamic Studies was established on the basis of the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies, where a joint work with representatives of religious non-governmental organizations and power structures is being conducted. It is expected that the activities of the center will help prevent the penetration of radical Islamic trends into the territory of the republic.

Ilshat Gafurov, the rector of the university, presented the main report on the activities of the KFU. The speaker said that University’s specialists have developed a number of scientific projects since the beginning of the year. In particular, the project, dedicated to new methods of prevention and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, personalization of education and rehabilitation of children with speech disorders. According to the rector, some of them received a positive assessment of the international council. “We are the most economically efficient university, which is assessed by the ratio of the invested resources and the obtained results”, said I. Gafurov.

The rector said that 2017 in the KFU was declared the year of N. Lobachevsky. I. Gafurov reminded that 225 years have passed since the birth of the great Russian scientist and one of the outstanding rectors of the Kazan University in the current year. In this regard, the Lobachevsky Museum will be created on the basis of the University. It will be viewed on the one hand as the place of life of the great scientist, on the other - as a scientific and educational platform for the educational process. “Its fundamental difference from the museums of science and technology in other cities of the country will become familiarity with the unique devices of the XVIII, XIX and XX centuries. Preserved at the university, they all remain active”, said I. Gafurov.

The speaker also proposed to declare 2018 in the KFU the year of the Russian writer L. Tolstoy. “The culture of the Tatar people is inextricably linked with the culture of Russia and the world. One of the points of interrelation is the figure of Leo Tolstoy, who was a student of the KFU. We believe that it is extremely important to unite the name of Leo Tolstoy and Tatarstan in the consciousness of the world community”, noted I. Gafurov.

In conclusion, the rector of the KFU thanked the member of the Guardianship Council of the University for the support provided. Also, Engel Fattakhov, the deputy Prime Minister of the RT and the minister of Education and Science of the RT, spoke at the meeting about the issue of training scientific and pedagogical personnel. In addition, the Council members decided to join the Almetyevsk State Petroleum Institute to the university, and the leadership of the KFU signed a number of cooperation agreements with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the RT and leading industry enterprises.
