(KZN.RU, June 22, by Taisiya Basharkina) The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin signed an agreement on the capital of Tatarstan joining the Cultural Alliance at the Perm region Government House. Perm was represented at the meeting by the Perm Region Minister of Culture Nikolai Novichkov, the head of the project center “Perm – the Capital of Culture” Boris Milgram and by the author of the idea of the festival “White nights in Perm”, gallerist Marat Gelman.
The Cultural Alliance, which initiated cooperation between two Russian cities - Perm and St. Petersburg - last year, has been expanded to nine cities this year including Kazan, Tver, Samara, Togliatti, Ufa, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov and Ulyanovsk.
Within the framework of the Cultural Alliance, Kazan and Perm become partners in the implementation of joint cultural projects. In addition to cooperation in the field of cultural exchange, the alliance participants will take part in the project "Culture of Russia", which will become part of the "Cultural Universiade". Artistic delegations from the alliance cities will be able to arrange a series of cultural events in Kazan in 2013.
It may be recalled that for the past 26 days Perm has been turned into one big festival stage, where the best poets, musicians and artists of Russia, the CIS and foreign countries are showing off their talents. The festival "White nights in Perm" is being held here June 1 - 26.
