Ilsur Metshin: “The Kazan light boundaries are expanding”

(KZN.RU, October 17). One of the priorities of Kazan development is energy efficiency. It is necessary to replace mercury lamps for this purpose, as well as to reduce heat losses in heating networks, focusing on the best global practices. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, said this at the Business Monday in the Executive Committee of the city, assessing the results of the AO “Kazenergo” activity for 9 months of 2016.

Combinations of the AO “Kazenergo” with MUP “Kazgorsvet” happened this spring. As Ilsur Metshin said today, the main motive of the business combination was economic and the first results are already appearing: it is the increasing of the company's management efficiency, reducing of vehicle maintenance costs by 12%, decreasing in accounts receivable of 30 million rubles.

Rustam Abdulhakov, the general director of the AO “Kazenergo”, noted that the positive dynamics was obtained for each of the areas of the enterprise work for the period. For the first 9 months of this year, the length of Kazan lighting lines has increased, new light-spots have been added: in the villages and renovated city parks. The speaker also said that the employees of the company are planning to begin work on an additional street lighting during the holidays and festive decoration of the city for the New Year in the near future.

I. Metshin marked that the illumination of recreation areas, parks, school routes is to ensure the safety of citizens. “I am glad that we grow in illumination of the villages. The level of life comfort, lighting, landscaping issues of our suburban towns should be on the same level as in capital”, said the Mayor of Kazan. “Just yesterday, as I was returning to the city by plane, I noticed that the Kazan light boundaries are expanding”.

R. Abdulhakov reminded that the operation of about 11,000 mercury lamps in the city continues. As the director of the company noted, these lamps have a number of disadvantages: low efficiency, large consumption of electrical energy, the negative impact on the environment. According to the speaker, more than 6000 mercury lamps will be replaced in the next 7 years.

I. Metshin instructed to study the issue in detail. “Mercury lamp is a “Stone age”. It is necessary to pose the problem and become a city without mercury lamps”, marked the Mayor.

Uninterrupted supply of the population of the city with heating and hot water is another main area of the “Kazenergo” work. R. Abdulhakov said that today all boiler and heating network enterprises are in operation, the heat start realized to all thermal energy consumers. The AO “Kazenergo” has good energy efficiency indicators. According to the general director of the company, the loss of heat energy in heating systems is 10.5%, while in Russia – 30%.

I. Metshin noted that we must not reassure ourselves with that number. “We need to focus on best practices”, said the Mayor and instructed to work out a set of measures to further reduce this number.
