October 6). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, visited the Museum of Housing
and Communal Services and talked to veterans of the industry.
The museum
was opened on April 25, 2016 in the office of the management company “Uyutny
Dom” on the street Chetaev, 17. The exposition of the theme museum of Housing
tells the origin story of housing and communal services in Kazan, when water,
gas, electricity etc. first appeared in the city. Manhole lid, operating
standpipes, a set of hand tools, household items of XIX-XX centuries, the
workplace of superintendent, autotransformer, gas masks, metering devices,
electric pole are in the number of museum exhibits.
The guide
told the Mayor little-known stories from the industry archive. She spoke about
the city head Sergey Dyachenko. The first electric lights and electric tram
appeared in Kazan during his time. “One of the newspapers wrote that he signed
a decree on the removal of impurities from the city in sealed barrels”, said
the guide. According to her, about 2,000 barrels per day were exported, and the
city treasury paid 185 thousand rubles a year for it.

Nuriyev, the director of the MC “Uyutny Dom”, told, the exhibition was created
by the company employees, contractors and the public.

Metshin in conversation with industry veterans - Alexander Gornakov, the
director of "Kazgorzhilhoz", and Spartak Yanakov, manager of the
PTZhH 2 in the Vakhitovsky district, said that the city cannot exist without
the housing and communal services and specialists in this field. “I agree that
in the history of Kazan housing workers should have a separate, large,
respectful page”, said the Mayor. “Any museum is the history. And history must
be remembered, known and kept”. Veterans thanked the Mayor for his kind words,
and said that the city authorities are currently paying enough attention to
utilities industry, solving the set of pressing residents’ problems.

Fattakhov, the first deputy head of the Kazan Executive Committee, Iskander
Giniyatullin, the deputy head of the Executive Committee on Housing and the
chairman of the Housing Committee, Timur Alibaev, the head of Aviastroitelny
and Novo-Savinovsky districts administration, also participated in the visit.
