(KZN.RU, June 16, by Taisiya Basharkina). The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin donated blood to the Republican Transfusion Station on the World Blood Donor Day.
“Someone always needs blood, so today our whole team decided to donate blood and to share it with those who need it most," said Ilsur Metshin.
According to the chief doctor of the Republican Station of Blood Transfusion Evgenii Sidoruk, Russia has the average of 16 donors per thousand population. In Tatarstan, there are 17 donors per thousand. "The needs of Tatarstan in blood products are fully satisfied,” he added. Each year, there are 25-27 thousand blood donors in Kazan, which is about one-third of the total number of donors in the Republic.
Blood components are used in virtually all areas of medicine: surgery, pediatrics, internal medicine, oncology, and even psychiatry.
The Republican database already has half a million donors. Among the honored blood donors of the Republic of Tatarstan are Kazan’s Victor Lezhayev, who has donated blood 121 times, Zaituna Davletshina (175 plasma donations), and Nail Mindubaev (75 donations).
