Festive competitions took place at the Kazan hippodrome

(KZN.RU, August 30). Festive racing, timed to the Day of the Republic of Tatarstan, was held today at the IEC “Kazan”. The equestrian event has acquired international status this year. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, Nikolai Nikiforov, the Minister of Communications and Mass Communications, Ildar Khalikov, the Prime Minister of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Marat Akhmetov, the deputy Prime Minister of the RT and Minister of Agriculture and Provision of the RT, Asgat Safarov, the head of Office of the President, and others watched the competitions.

After arriving at the Kazan hippodrome, Rustam Minnikhanov traditionally got acquainted with fair-exhibition of national agricultural producers, which were located in the lobby of the complex.

Honorary guests of the event were waiting for the President of Tatarstan in the viewing box: representatives of the republican ministries and departments, heads of large companies, foreign guests. Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated everyone on the Day of the Republic and drew attention to the changes, taking place in Tatarstan today: opening of new social facilities, health facilities, parks and squares, embankments, development of production and much more.

“I visited more than twenty districts and cities of the republic only in August. Positive developments can be noted everywhere. Today we have opened a new overpass in Zelenodolsk together with Maxim Sokolov, the Minister of Transport of Russia. Later, we put into operation the second turn of the bridge across the Kama. Tatarstan is developing, and it is a merit of all citizens of the republic”, said the President.

The Mayor of Kazan also spoke to the guests of the equestrian holiday. He congratulated the participants on the Day of the Republic and the City Day and noted the large-scale transformations have taken place in Tatarstan and its capital.

Then, Rustam Minnikhanov and other guests took their places on the viewing platform. 14 starts were in the current program of the equestrian holiday. Competitions of thoroughbred racehorses for the Tatarstan President's Cup became the main event of the day. Racehorse Si Code, owned by Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of the Chechen Republic, finished first in this prestigious race. Rustam Minnikhanov handed over the prize to the winner-jockey, reports the press service of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
