The II Republican ethno-religious festival "Mosaic of cultures" started in Kazan

(KZN.RU, August 30). The II Republican ethno-religious festival “Mosaic of cultures” was launched today in Kazan near the family center “Kazan”. The main purpose of the festival is to acquaint residents and visitors with a rich ethnic and religious culture of Tatarstan. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, met with participants and guests of the event. He was accompanied by Airat Sibagatullin, the Minister of Culture of Tatarstan, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and representatives of traditional confessions.

Rustam Minnikhanov visited the exhibition “Religion as a part of the culture” on arrival to the holiday site. The exhibition included various presentations and the photo exhibition, the work of restorers of icons and Russian art, shamails, books on the Orthodox, Islamic and other religious cultures, master classes on icon painting and calligraphy.

The guests got acquainted with the exposition of national clothing, fairs-show of arts and crafts, master-classes on crafts for pottery and blacksmith craft, basket weaving, and gold sewing in special tents. Art collective from Austria, Kazakhstan and the Republic of Tuva (Russia) performed at the stage.

Speaking from the stage, Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan attaches great importance to strengthening the positive inter-ethnic and inter-confessional relations. “Representatives of many ethnic groups, which are living in our country, are taking part in the festival today. In addition, we were visited by the guests from other regions of Russia and various countries. I want to congratulate all of you on the Day of the Republic and wish that we continue to live in peace and harmony”, said the President of Tatarstan.

After that Rustam Minnikhanov met with bloggers - the participants of the tour in Tatarstan.
