This year ice town prepared surprises for residents and guests of Kazan

Despite the weather, there is an active preparation for the New Year holidays - the construction of the ice town at the square in front of the puppet theater "Ekiyat" is in full swing in Kazan. This year a lot of surprises are expected for residents and visitors of the capital of Tatarstan. Mayor Ilsur Metshin examined the plan of the future "ice kingdom" and instructed to organize warm cafes and inexpensive food points on its territory.

This year the Snow Queen will be the main personage of the ice town. On the territory a castle will appear, where icy beauty will sit. All comers will be able to visit fabulous house.

Lighting of the ice town promises to be brighter and even more interesting. 5,800 clusters of LED light bulbs will be used for design. They will illuminate the ice maze, which will be covered with the wooden flooring to prevent children from slipping or falling.

As the deputy head of the Executive Committee of Kazan - Chairman of external improvement committee Igor Kulyazhev told, contractors will strengthen internal illumination of ice figures. It will be especially noticeable is in the dark.

One of the most interesting innovations that the lovers of winter fun will appreciate is the height of the central hill at the ice town. If before it reached about 9 meters, this year it will be higher - its height will be 12 meters. At the same time, according to the head of the contractor Nailia Yusupova, hill will be decorated with ice figures.

Traditional skating with snow tubes will also take place here this year as one of the most popular attractions for children. "Children are very fond of this hill, because they skate from it with the pendulum effect and continue to ride from one end to the other. But on this hill we need to follow a strict queue, so there controllers will be on duty to ensure the safety"- N.Yusupova told. To decorate ice skates of the other slides more interesting light illumination will be used.

"We also took into account the wishes of the residents, who asked us to strengthen security measures and to make more warm premises," - I.Kulyazhev said. He added that this year, instead of two small warm cafes, one, but of a fairly large area will be at the town. And for enhanced security measures 12 security guards will be on duty 24 hours in the icy town.

Contractors have now completed 85% of the work. The weather doesn’t allow fully completing of the construction of the ice town - for its design it is necessary to get here a thousand cubic meters of ice. Despite of a whim of nature, work is being done at all holiday venues of the town.

The Mayor praised the preparation for the holiday season and instructed to organize inexpensive shops, where everyone will be able to have a snack and hot drinks, at the territory of ice town.
