I. Metshin: "Kirovsky district is a vivid example of the synergy of history and modernity"

(Kazan City KZN.RU, December 16). The 90th anniversary of the Kirovsky district is celebrated in the capital of Tatarstan. Mayor Ilsur Metshin congratulated residents of the city's oldest district:

"Dear residents of the Kirovsky district!

Allow me to congratulate you on behalf of the residents of the capital of Tatarstan on the remarkable date - the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Kirovsky district!

The capital of Tatarstan is a city of amazing destiny, combining centuries-old history of our time and energy. And the oldest district of Kazan - Kirovsky - is a prime example of this synergy. The unique architecture, rich multi-ethnic culture, great educational traditions, economic and social well-being of the district is an achievement of many generations of citizens who gave their knowledge and energy for the benefit and development of our city.

Kirovsky district has always been a working center of the capital of Tatarstan. Working history of Kazan began here in Kazan Admiralty. Years later the vector of production has shifted to the defense industry. Kazan Gunpowder Plant, State Scientific Research Institute of Chemical Products, known for its developments far beyond the borders of the Russian Federation, make the glory of the district, both in war and peace times of the Soviet era and to this day. I am confident that the economic potential of the Kirovsky district has not been disclosed yet, and in this area there is a large space for activities!

One of the flagship projects that can be a new step in the development of the territory is the revival of the Admiralty suburb. This is a unique place for urban experiment. For three centuries the suburb, possessing significant resources and competitive advantages for the development, has left its mark in the design and building of the territory, laid great opportunities for active tourist attraction.

But the main wealth of the area is the people, hard-working, clever, talented! More than 5,600 residents of the district were killed in the war fronts. 14 residents became Heroes of the Soviet Union, N.G.Stolyarov, pilot-attack, has been awarded this honorary title twice. We are proud of the history of the city and our great compatriots!

I heartily congratulate you on the jubilee! I wish peace, health and welfare to you and your families, and stability and prosperity to the Kirovsky district"- the statement says.
