Ilsur Metshin met with Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan
(Kazan City KZN.RU, August 25, Zilya Gayfi). Mayor Ilsur Metshin met with Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan today in the capital's City Hall. The meeting was also attended by the head of the Executive Committee of the city Denis Kalinkin.
Ilsur Metshin greeted Metropolitan Feofan, noting the importance of efforts to strengthen Orthodoxy, friendship between people of different faiths in Tatarstan. "The symbol of the city is a kettle. For a thousand years in this kettle lots of things have been boiled. But the main course always has been the inter-ethnic harmony. I greet you in Kazan, and I hope you will love our city; it will become the native place of your heart. I sincerely wish that more people become believers, and the Almighty would always keep us" - said the Mayor.
Metropolitan Feofan thanked the head of the city for the warm welcome and hospitality. "I have traveled the world. I was in Jerusalem, Damascus, Cairo, Buenos Aires, the Caucasus, Chelyabinsk, Ulyanovsk and Magadan. I have been in various temples of capitals of the world, and I can say that Kazan meets me no worse than European cities. And now here I can say that I irrevocably anchored in Kazan "- said the Metropolitan.
During the meeting Ilsur Metshin and Metropolitan Feofan discussed the activities of Kazan diocese and Tatarstan archdiocese, in particular, the issues of restoration and construction of churches and monasteries, the activities of the parishes, assist of church services in the implementation of social, youth and social projects. At the end Mayor of the Tatarstan capital and head of Kazan and Tatarstan archdiocese exchanged gifts.
Recall Metropolitan Feofan was appointed the head of Kazan and Tatarstan archdiocese July 13, 2015. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, held in St. Petersburg chaired by His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill. Earlier Simbirsk and Novospassk Metropolitan Feofan headed Simbirsk metropolitan.
