(Kazan, KZN.RU, June 15) Kazan will host a meeting of the Executive Bureau of the World Organization "United Cities and Local Governments" in June 2016. Mayors from around the world, the most active part of municipal elites, will gather in the capital of Tatarstan. The decision was taken at a meeting of the UCLG Executive Bureau in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre. Kazan's bidding documentary to host the UCLG Executive Bureau meeting was presented by the mayor of the Tatarstan capital Ilsur Metshin. The mayor of Kazan also invited all members of the organization and Brazilians to the upcoming World Aquatics Championships-2015.
The regular UCLG Executive Bureau meeting took place in the city of Porto Alegre (Brazil) last week. Holding the next meeting of the members of the organization in Kazan is a historic decision for our city. The capital of Tatarstan is the first city in Russia to host the event.
Kazan's bidding documentary was presented by the mayor of Tatarstan's capital. It should be noted that the UCLG members were surprised by the beauty and prospects of our city, and the decision to hold the meeting in Kazan was supported by all key participants of the discussions. As a result, mayors from around the world, the most active part of municipal elites, will visit the sports capital of Russia in June 2016, which will boost Kazan's political weight in the international arena, attracting investment and tourist flows.
During the event, the mayor of Kazan met with Mayor of Porto Alegre, José Fortunati, who shared the experience of hosting the World Cup matches. Recall that in 2014, the city hosted five championship matches. According to I.Kuznetsov, who also participated in the meeting, the municipality of Porto Alegre expressed a desire to support Kazan in the organization of the 2018 World Cup matches.
At the end of the meeting, Ilsur Metshin gave interviews to the local media, where he shared his impressions about the successes of Porto Alegre in the development of urban infrastructure and invited all its citizens to visit Kazan during the 2015 FINA World Cup.
