(Kazan, KZN.RU, May 21, by Albert Murtazin). The Mayor of Tatarstan's capital Ilsur Metshin visited the School No. 35 Center for Aerospace Education in Kazan's Privolzhsky district. During the visit, the mayor stressed the importance of technical clubs. Educational projects help students to make serious progress in science from an early age, the mayor stressed.
The school principal Elena Glukhareva said that the schoolchildren were enthusiastic about space studies and that their enthusiasm was yielding results: many of the Aerospace Center members have taken part in national and international competitions, winning prizes.
Ilsur Metshin acquainted himself with a project of the space medicine and biology laboratory, which has existed in the school for two years. The mayor was shown a number of student projects: a mock lunar base, artificial satellite and rocket projects and a homemade telescope. It is worth noting that the school has designed a real space probe – an ultra small satellite CubeSat, having a volume of 1 liter and a maximum weight of 1.33 kg. The mayor of Kazan observed students engaged in helicopter emulator training.
Ilsur Metshin noted that such clubs help students learn much new and find their favorite occupation. "Such great scientists as Tupolev and Korolev also started as members of such technical clubs. Kazan is a city of aircraft and helicopter industry. It is therefore very important that we have such clubs and enthusiasts," said the mayor.
