(Kazan, KZN.RU, May 20, by Adel Galiyev) Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin met with the president of the international movement «WorldSkills International» Simon Bartley. At the meeting, which was held at the Executive Committee, they discussed the possibility of holding the championship in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan.
For the record, Kazan won the bid to host the 2nd National Championship of Blue Collar Occupations «WorldSkills Russia- 2014." It was decided that Kazan would bid for the right to host the «WorldSkills Competition-2019." It should be noted that the world stage of the competition traditionally attracts more than 200,000 participants, company representatives and recruiters, thus giving impetus to the development of high-tech occupations.
At the meeting, the mayor spoke about his feelings following his visit to the National WorldSkills Championship: « I was pleasantly surprised. Kazan is, in a good way, spoiled by events of every kind: sporting, scientific and cultural. But such drive on the part of the young is rare. I saw a lot of talented young people who are already professionals."
The Kazan mayor thanked everyone involved in the organization of the championship in Russia and noted the importance for each person to find his calling in life. "I know that the global stage of the competition is attended by thousands of young people, and, with the power of the Internet, the audience can well reach a million. Therefore, I see here a new area and new opportunities for cooperation," he stressed.
Simon Bartley was impressed by the fact that he met a mayor who shared his enthusiasm for working with young people. He spoke about a positive economic impact of a championship of this level on a host city. As the president of «WorldSkills International» put it, " the mayor's support in hosting the championship can be invaluable."
