(KZN.RU, October 30, by Renat Shirmanov) By 2015, Kazan will have a modern infrastructure and a wide experience of holding international sporting events. This will help the capital of Tatarstan to organize one of the best-ever World Aquatics Championships, which in turn will promote interest in swimming on the part of Tatarstan inhabitants. This was stated by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at the 2nd FINA World Aquatics Convention, which began its work in Moscow.
"It should be noted that the growing popularity of swimming is largely due to the preparation for the 2013 World Summer Universiade, whose program will include a large number of aquatic events. The Student Games will be a highlight in the life of the city. Top athletes from 170 countries will meet and compete in Kazan,” said Ilsur Metshin.
The mayor said that in addition to the construction of modern sports facilities, which experts describe as some of the best in Europe, the development of road network and hotel construction is proceeding apace in the capital of Tatarstan.
Speaking at the convention, FINA President Julio Maglione commended the work of the organizing committee of the FIFA World Aquatics Championship, which will be held in Kazan in 2015. "I am positive that great success awaits Kazan. The organizing committee of the tournament is doing a marvellous job, and we are confident that the championship will be held at the highest possible level," he concluded.
