I.Metshin: "We will hold the best ever World Aquatics Championship"
(KZN.RU, October 25, by Alisa Rozanova) In 2015, Kazan intends to hold the best World Aquatics Championship in history. This statement was made by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at a meeting with members of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) organizing committee.
" For us the Universiade is like a weight which the swimmer uses while training in order to show better results afterwards. We are preparing for the 2013 Universiade at the moment, but following the World Student Games we'll be ready to hold the best ever water sports championship,” said the mayor.
To assess the readiness of the capital of Tatarstan for the 2015 World Aquatics Championship, FINA president Julio Cesar Maglione and FINA executive director Cornel Markulesku arrived in Kazan.
It will be recalled that the FINA championship is scheduled to be held July 17 to August 2, 2015. The program will include competitions in swimming, diving, water polo and open water swimming.
