IT boarding school opens in Tatarstan capital
(KZN.RU, September 1) An IT boarding school for gifted children opened at Tatarstan's Kazan (Volga) Federal University. The opening ceremony was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Welcoming the guests, the students sang a song in English, Russian and Tatar. "We want our children to be competitive and simply the best. Our goal is to create an IT-cluster project “Innopolis” in our republic. It is for this purpose that the idea of establishing an IT boarding school has been implemented. Now our main goal is to create a specific environment and to shape the future of our country,” said the head of the republic.
The IT Boarding School of Kazan Federal University is a self-sufficient educational and scientific unit, providing training in basic, intermediate and further education. It will teach gifted children from the municipal districts of Tatarstan, the Federal Volga District and other regions of Russia.
The school is a complex of school buildings and a dormitory located in the Universiade Village. Its total area is 11.2 thousand square meters. The school includes 36 general-purpose classrooms, three laboratories, an English language laboratory, computer classes, an assembly hall, a cafeteria, a gym and a medical center.
