Construction of a large multifunctional sports complex has begun in Kazan. It is being built on the territory of school No.49 and will become the fourth venue of this type in the city. The peculiarity of this sport site is accessibility for disabled children. Students of neighboring schools will be able to train here – about two thousand children. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the project of the sports complex.
“It is important for us to build not only large sports centers, but also to develop sports infrastructure next to residential buildings and schools. Today our plans are to build a large sports and recreational complex with football and basketball grounds, as well as sports equipment. We are getting to work and plan to welcome residents in autumn”,- I.Metshin said. It is planned to open the center in October-November.
In total, only two similar sports venues will open in Tatarstan this year – the second one is being built in Nizhnekamsk.
The sports and recreational complex will be located at school on Musina Street, on an area of about 6 thousand sq.m. After the final approval of the project, construction work will begin. Dmitry Sadetdinov, the director of school No.49, told the Mayor that according to the project, a 30x60 meters football pitch with stands for 100 seats, a 28x154 meters basketball ground and a volleyball ground of 18x9 meters will be equipped there, as well as athletic tracks an area of 1,649 sq.m.
The complex will be equipped with workout devices, including handlebars, bars, rings, wall bars, a climbing wall, a rope complex and others. Special equipment will be installed for children with disabilities: a bicep device, a pull down device, a horizontal bench, wall bars, horizontal bars and bars for wheelchair users, as well as two pairs of lifting bars. In addition, children with special needs will be able to exercise in the leg press and horizontal press.
During the year, children with disabilities living in this area, as well as students of school No.49 and nearby educational institutions, will be able to train in the sports and recreational complex – about 2 thousand children. “Physical education classes will be held in the new sports venue for schoolchildren”, - D.Sadetdinov noted.
For reference, school was established in 1977 and was renovated in 2012. In 2020, work was carried out on current maintenance – canteen, toilets and water supply networks were overhauled. Additionally, the chess lessons room was updated. In 2021, the food unit was renovated, which now operates in the format of a school restaurant.
