After the renovation, the sports and recreation camp Molodaya Gvardiya will become the second place after Zarechye for year-round recreation of children. The construction of new buildings is currently underway, and it is also planned to open a football pitch there. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, got acquainted with the progress of the work yesterday.
Molodaya Gvardiya sports and recreation camp, the oldest in Kazan, was established 90 years ago. The previous overhaul was carried out 60 years ago. Every summer, almost a thousand children rested here for 4 shifts. Last year, a large-scale overhaul began in the camp.
“The construction of new buildings with heating system will allow increasing the capacity of Molodaya Gvardiya to 280 children per shift and organizing year-round recreation for children here. This was made possible thanks to the program of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov. Molodaya Gvardiya will be not only a children’s camp, but also a place for winter recreation and activities”, - the Mayor of Kazan said.
To date, 10 new sleeping buildings with a capacity of 30 people each, 2 administrative buildings and a health center have been built in the camp to replace old wooden buildings. At the same time, during construction, workers and designers tried to preserve every tree that grows here. Six buildings, including 4 sleeping, one administrative facility and a canteen, will be heated in the cold season. This will allow organizing children's recreation in the camp all year round, taking into account the training process.
Work continues on the supply of utilities for the sustenance of the camp. Front works have been completed in the buildings, the entrances have been equipped, the builders will have to carry out the interior decoration of the premises, after which the buildings will be furnished.
In total, 97 workers and 5 special vehicles are involved in the facility.
During the overhaul of the children's camp, one of the wooden buildings was preserved – a museum will be opened here at the suggestion of the Mayor of the city. Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with its design. The museum, recreating the life of the pioneer camp, will comprise several zones – a canteen, a medical office, a library hall and a hall with guitars and bicycles.
In Molodaya Gvardiya, there are sport classes for athletes in four sports: football, basketball, speed skating and athletics. On the territory of the camp with an area of 9.37 hectares, basketball and volleyball courts are equipped, which were built under the republican programs, a mini-football ground and two non-standard football pitches. There are plans to equip a football pitch with a size of 90x60 m. According to Albert Salikhov, chairman of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports, it will be possible to hold competitions of different levels on the football pitch.
For athletics training, two 110 m long athletic tracks with a foam coating and a jumping zone will be built in the camp. In addition, a universal sports ground for workout will be equipped on the territory of the camp, an indoor training ground, basketball and mini-football grounds will be built. Night lighting of the grounds will be provided, A.Salikhov noted.
“Children will not only rest, but also prepare for the new sports season”, - the Mayor said.
