In Kazan, on the territory of the Yardem Mosque on Serova Street, the
construction of the city's first sports venue with an area of 1,200 square
meters for children and adults with disabilities, including Paralympians, has
been completed. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited a new sports venue where
up to 40 people will be able to train at a time for free. The opening of the
sports complex is scheduled for early May. Less than a year has passed from the
idea to the implementation of the project.
“At the end of
the holy month of Ramadan and on the eve of Eid al-Adha we were able to make
another gift to believers and all residents of the city with disabilities. All
conditions have been created here for sports activities – special modern
equipment has been installed, highly qualified trainers were invited to work
here”, - Ilsur Metshin said during his visit to the venue.
Ildar Hadrat
Bayazitov, Imam khatib of the Yardem Mosque, thanked the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur
Metshin for his support in the construction of a new sports complex, built and
equipped by donations from sponsors. Ildar Hadrat Bayazitov reminded the first
visit of the head of the city to the Suleiman Mosque in 2008 when he decided to
allocate a land plot for the construction of a new complex with a mosque, a
rehabilitation center and a sports complex.
“Ilsur Raisovich
was the main inspirer of the creation of this sports complex and supporter of
the construction. The head of the city made every effort to ensure that the
complex would be completed till Eid al-Adha”, - said the imam khatib of the
Yardem Mosque. – There is a unique complex in Kazan designed for people with
disabilities”.
On the ground
floor of the complex there is a multipurpose sports hall, where mass sports
training can be held, and a gym for wheelchair visitors. According to Ildar
Hazrat Bayazitov, the covering in the multipurpose hall is selected taking into
account Paralympic standards, and the functionality allows for training in many
Paralympic sports, such as floorball (wheelchair hockey), boccia, football,
mini-football, volleyball and basketball.
Various
competitions will be held in the sports venue. It is planned to organize an
all–Russian showdown competition - a game for the blind and visually impaired,
in which participants need to hit the ball.
In another hall,
wheelchair users will be trained under the guidance of a coach. There are
special simulators for the muscles of the arms and shoulders, as well as special
treadmill.
On the second
floor of the sports complex there is a gym and a cardio training hall, a
massage room and an office with equipment for electrical muscle stimulation. “In
total, we have purchased 25 special simulators worth about 12 million rubles.
All simulators are modern and designed for people with disabilities for the
safety of visitors. The equipment can be controlled using the built–in system,
and the coach will monitor the process”, - said Ildar Hadrat Bayazitov.
Sports classes
in the sports complex will be held daily, 18 coaches will assist the visitors.
All of them were specially trained and have licenses that allow them to work
with people with disabilities and children.
