(KZN.RU, March 23, by Taisiya Basharkina) Outdoor furniture, street signs and upgraded bus shelters will be installed in the city center for the Universiade. A meeting with Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin was devoted to comprehensive improvement of the historical part of Kazan.
Two major players on the advertising market -suppliers of outdoor advertising «Larisa-City» and «News Outdoor» - presented their projects to the mayor. «News Outdoor» Moscow and Moscow region branch director Sergei Dubkov presided over the presentation. The company completed its first project in Kazan for the city millennium: it improved the center of the capital of Tatarstan.
Sergei Dubkov introduced the concept of integrated three-pronged development of city navigation, orientation and outdoor furniture installation (benches, fences and garbage bins).
"Outdoor furniture gives a city style. Visitors’ mood and impression of the city is determined by the appearance of residential areas, its restaurants and by what they see while moving. It is necessary to determine exact pedestrian routes, along which outdoor furniture, tourist attraction signs and restrooms will be installed," said the mayor.
«Larisa-City» proposed installing monument direction signs. They would be helpful to visitors since there are numerous historical landmarks along pedestrian routes.
Ilsur Metshin said that the city center must be improved for the Games from the beginning of Bauman street (Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan) to the “Sukonnaya Sloboda” metro station. In addition, side streets that intersect the main roads should also be improved. Particular attention should be paid to the bus shelters.
"By May 2013, the city should be ready to welcome its guests with well-appointed tourist routes," concluded the Mayor.
