(KZN.RU, February 15, by Alisa Rozanova) Sculptures to honor literary heroes may appear in Kazan courtyards. This idea was proposed to Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin by a well-known painter Nikas Safronov.
The annual exhibition "Art Gallery” opened today at the Kazan Fair exhibition center. Ilsur Metshin took part in the opening. The mayor was shown around by a guest of honor, a famous Russian artist and the founder of the «Dream vision» style of painting Nikas Safronov.
For the second year running, a small architectural form competition among the young "Alga" is being held at the exhibition with the support of the Executive Committee of Kazan. Students of art schools and workshops display their works aimed at the improvement of urban environment.
A well-known sculptor, Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, Asiya Minnullina presented to the Mayor models of sculptures created by students of the Kazan branch of V.I. Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute. The students suggested that animal sculptures be placed in courtyards to make them more cozy. The figures could be made of waterproof concrete, which is inexpensive and fairly durable.
Nikas Safronov, in his turn, noted that today's children are surrounded by an abundance of examples of foreign culture and suggested installing sculptures of home classic characters in courtyards and gardens, such as those from Leo Tolstoy’s works and Ivan Krylov's fables, as well as those from Russian and Tatar fairy tales.
