Fashion, design and street performance festival “Window” starts in Kazan

The festival of fashion, design and street performance “Window” starts today in Kazan. The festival opens up with an exhibition of the designers’ dolls in the national costumes brought from all over Russia. The exhibition is opened for the visitors in the Friendship Center of the peoples of Tatarstan till September 29,2019.
Tomorrow, on September 27, the Fashion Film Day will be held at the Kazan state Institute of culture. Prêt-à-Porter and "September issue" movies about haute couture will be shown there.
The same night, another film screening will be organized as part of the Fashion Film Night. Visitors will have an opportunity to see movies about famous designers, stylists, editors and celebrities: Anna Wintour, Anna Magnani, Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano, Peter Lindenberg and Annie Leibovitz.
The Kazan Federal University will host a creative designer’s competition- Heritage. Participants will compete for the victory in the following categories: "Ethnographic costume", "Modern designer’s costume", "Drama costume", and "A doll in the national costume".
A costume show will be performed on the final day of the festival, September 28, on the square near the theater named after G. Kamal. The audience will see a fashion show with the vivid national dresses.
On the same day from 14.00 to 15.00 in the lecture area a russian designer Ekaterina Borisova will speak with guests on the theme "Tatarstan: the art of living together. History of mutual influence of Russian and Tatar costume".
Linguistic master classes, traditions and habits, as well as the national dishes at the food court area will be presented.
Khorovod (a big national dance) around the globe will end the festival. Guests and residents of Kazan, dressed in costumes of different nationalities, will join hands and spin in a big dance. Also, guests of the holiday will be able to join the big Tatar tea party. A long table will be installed on the square near the theater. The participants wearing national costumes will get a chance to taste a famous cake "Kazan".
