May 23). Today, Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation,
presented state awards to eminent Russians and foreign citizens in the
Catherine Hall of the Moscow Kremlin. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, was
among the awarded.
The head of
the country awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, III Degree, to Ilsur
Metshin, for his great contribution to the socio-economic development of the
city and his many years of hard work. The decree on awarding was published on
the official Internet portal of legal information on March 29.
Ilsur
Metshin noted in his reply that receiving a high award from the hands of the
head of state is a great honor and inexpressible emotions. “I share the award
with those people without whom it would not have been possible. My dear
parents, my family, my team, my teachers, leaders and, of course, dear and
beloved Kazan citizens”, said the Mayor of Kazan.
“Dear Mr.
President, allow me to convey the words of sincere gratitude on behalf of the
Kazan residents. Thank you for the events that you entrusted to us, supported
and continue to support, starting from the Millennium of the city, the World
Universiade, the FINA Championship and, of course, the FIFA Championship, which
we held under your leadership throughout the country. These events changed the
infrastructure of the city and greatly improved the life quality of Kazan
citizens”, he said.
“After each
event, we have thousands of true friends around the world. One of them is in
the hall today, Gianni Infantino (the head of FIFA – ed.). They took with them
our warmth and love for Russia. There are many good pages in the glorious
history of the millennial Kazan. But these events brought Kazan to a completely
new level of the European standard, under your leadership, Mr. President. We
are sincerely grateful to you. Kazan is ready for new challenges, new frontiers
under your leadership”, said Ilsur Metshin.
More than
30 awarded orders, medals and honorary titles were given to cosmonauts,
scientists, workers of education, healthcare, and sports, famous artists,
workers in industry and agriculture. According to the Decree of the President
of the RF, there were also Valentina Matvienko, the chairperson of the Council
of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the RF, was awarded the Order of St.
Andrew the First-Called, Gianni Infantino. the President of FIFA, Viktor
Sadovnichy, the rector of Moscow State University named after M. Lomonosov,
Sergey Makovetsky, a People’s Artist of the RF, Mikhail Zhvanetsky, a Russian
satirist writer, Valentin Yudashkin, a designer, and others.
