R. Minnikhanov about the Waste Incineration Plant: “There will be no negative impact on the environment:

The topic of environmental protection and environmental management for Tatarstan is particularly relevant since the republic is one of the most industrialized regions of the country. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, expressed this opinion today at an expanded meeting of the joint final board of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the RT and the Office of the Federal Service for Supervision of the Use of Natural Resources for the RT.

Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Farit Khairutdinov, the head of the Office of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources Management for the RT, Renat Timerzyanov, the chief federal inspector of the RT, Ekzam Gubaidulin, the chairman of the Council of Municipalities of the RT, heads of municipalities of the Republic, and others attended the meeting.

Rustam Minnikhanov briefly announced the main socio-economic indicators of the republic over the past year. Thus, the volume of industrial products shipped amounted to 2.818 trillion rubles, the preliminary volume of GRP is 2.44 trillion rubles, the amount of investment in fixed assets remained at the level of last year. “All our 38 republican programs have been successfully implemented. All of them are aimed at improving the life quality of citizens of the republic. About 40 programs are planned to be implemented this year”, said the President of the RT.

At the same time, some projects implemented in Tatarstan, including in the field of agriculture, have a negative environmental impact factor, noted Rustam Minnikhanov. He marked that the main task is to minimize this impact.

“Of course, new projects are being implemented according to the most stringent environmental standards. But we have production introduced 20-30 years ago, which is a fairly large load today. But gradually the situation changes. In particular, a lot of work was done in Nizhnekamsk, where the situation was much more complicated 10-15 years ago. We have already increased oil refining by 2 times. Also, a lot of work is being done in the field of new energy installations, which also meet the latest requirements”, said Rustam Minikhanov.

The President of the RT also focused on the construction of a garbage disposal plant in the republic. He marked that this is the global practice of waste management. Thus, there are 21 similar plants in Tokyo within the city borders.

“As for the plant in the country, the most recent technological solutions will be applied during the construction. International expertise will be conducted. There will be no negative environmental impact. Today there is the practice of separate waste collection with further processing of secondary raw materials. But large million-population cities without specialized waste disposal centers cannot develop any further”, said Rustam Minnikhanov. He urged to continue working with the population, to explain in detail that with the implementation of this project, nothing threatens the health of people, reports the press service of the President of the RT.

Many questions arise in the course of communication with the business. “There should be an open dialogue. But at the same time, we need to be attentive to environmental management, to monitor the issuance of licenses”, said Rustam Minnikhanov.

He added that the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the RT should seriously work in the area of the national project “Ecology”. Rustam Minnikhanov urged the deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from Tatarstan to join this work.

The President of the RT noted that today a number of settlements are still not covered by garbage collection operators. The reason is the lack of access roads. “Mostly landfills appears because there is no place to take the garbage. Therefore, we need to systematically solve these tasks”, concluded Rustam Minnikhanov. He also noted that the work quality of regional operators for the treatment of garbage should comply with the established tariffs.
