I. Metshin about the City Day: “The program is busy, all venues are involved. It will be fascinating”

A busy entertainment program has been prepared for celebrating the Day of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Day of Kazan; it will be interesting to visit, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, at the Business Monday. Azat Abzalov, the head of the Department of Culture, told about the planned citywide events at the staff meeting.

The festive day, August 30, will begin with a traditional grand meeting in the Kazan City Hall with the participation of honorary citizens of the city. At 10 am, a children's holiday “Treasures of the Old Park”, competitions in orienteering, futsal, basketball, and track and field will take place in the Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure.

At the same time, the republican ethno-confessional festival “Mosaic of Cultures” starts on the site near the Family Center “Kazan”. Artists and masters of folk and art crafts will present the cultural diversity of the peoples living in the republic. In addition, there will be a festival of national literature of the peoples of Russia. Writers, poets, and musicians, representing the culture of the national republics of Russia will participate in it.

On a festive day, there will be a festival of urban culture and arts “Tat Cult” in the Kazan Kremlin. It will present the current trends in the field of culture, history and contemporary art. The program included film screenings, theatrical performances by Kazan directors and artists, presentation of interactive art objects and special projects of young artists.

At 10.45 am, the Kamal Tatar State Academic Theater will host the festival of folk art “Play, the accordion!”. Participants of the open republican festival of working youth creativity “Our time” will give a concert at 2.30 pm.

The cultural event will be held on the pedestrian street Kayum Nasyri in the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda and will begin at 1 pm. A concert of veterans, an inclusive theater performance “The City of Open Hearts” by the inclusive studio of the HoC “Yunost”, the festival of national arts “Kazan Solgese”, and a concert of Tatar alternative music “Yana Daver” with the participation of young performers of Tatar contemporary music are organized there.

An auto-motor show “Kazan city racing” will take place on the Millennium Square at 1 pm. “The show is held here for the fifth time. “This year the KAMAZ-Master team will present their cars. The most exciting moment of the program would be the jump of in length from the springboard by a KAMAZ”, said Azat Abzalov.

At 2.30 pm, an equestrian festival will begin on the Kazan Hippodrome. 15 races are planned, including the Cup of the President of the RT and the Prize of the Kazan City Hall.

At 6 pm, the Family Center “Kazan” will host a concert of Tatar and Russian pop stars, which will last until 10 pm. The headliners of the program will be Guzel Urazova, the bands “Hi-Fi” and “Lyube”.

At 8 pm, Kazan citizens are invited to the square in front of the Culturologist’s Palace. The international opera festival “Kazan Autumn” will start there, organized by the State Symphony Orchestra of the RT.

A salute will be launched over Kazanka River at 10 pm. The best places for viewing are the Kremlin embankment, the Family Center “Kazan”, and the whole Kazanka embankment.

In addition, a charity event “Velobdobro” will be in the Gorkinsko-Ometievsky forest on the City Day. 30 children from low-income and large families will receive a bicycle.

“The program is very busy. All venues are involved, all our teams, including invited ones. It will be fascinating. We hope that hundreds of thousands of Kazan citizens and guests of the capital will take part in this day. They will also enjoy the creativity of the collectives and participate themselves”, concluded Ilsur Metshin, inviting the Kazan citizens to join the celebration.

During the preparation and conduction of festive events, the traffic will be restricted. The Millennium Square will be closed for movement from 10 pm to 6 am on 27, 28 and 29 of August, and on August 30. On August 30, the restrictions will affect S. Khakim Street near the Family Center “Kazan”. The public transport will run on a special schedule with the extension of the operating mode until midnight.
