16). The opening of the monument to Rustem Yakhin, the Tatar composer, a pianist,
a People's Artist of the USSR, the author of the music for the national anthem
of the Republic of Tatarstan, was held today in Kazan. The monument is located
in the park along Bolshaya Krasnaya Street, opposite the building of the Kazan
State Conservatory named after N. Zhiganov.
Rustam
Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Farid Mukhametshin, the chairman of the
State Council of the RT, Mintimer Shaimiev, the state councilor of the RT,
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Rashid Kalimullin, the chairman of the Union
of Composers of the RF and the Union of Composers of the RT, and Tatarstan
known figures of arts took part in the ceremony.

Minnikhanov noted that today marks 96 years since the birth of Rustem Yakhin,
an outstanding composer who has made a significant contribution to the
development of Tatar music, reports the press service of the President of RT.
“Dear
friends! Today is the birthday of the great Tatar composer, a People's Artist
of the USSR, a participant in the war, author of the anthem of our republic.
Such a beautiful complex appeared opposite the conservatory, where he worked,
where our guests and citizens could come. This is a unique, beautiful place. We
will always be proud of his works, we will always remember him”, said the
President of the RT.
Rustam
Minnikhanov expressed his special gratitude to the sculptors and architects
working on the monument, as well as to the leadership of Kazan.
Rashid
Kalimullin and Rubin Abdullin, the rector of the Kazan State Conservatory named
after N. Zhiganov, also addressed a welcoming speech to the audience.
At the end
of the ceremony, the guests laid flowers at the monument.
