(KZN.RU,
June 19). Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, took part in the launch
of the most powerful gas turbine unit in Russia at the Kazan CHPP-3. Ilsur
Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, also attended the event.
A new block
of the gas-turbine unit (GTU) at the Kazan CHPP-3, a branch of OAO “TGK-16”,
was built as part of a comprehensive modernization of the station. The gas turbine
plant was built on the basis of the largest and most efficient gas turbine in
the world (9HA.01) with a capacity of 405.6 MW. The producer of the turbine is
the American company “General Electric”. The Kazan CHPP-3 is the second power
plant in the world where GTU with such kind of turbine is put into commercial
operation.
It’s been a
bit more than three years since the signing of the contract in April 2014 to
the launch of the facility. After the modernization, the capacity of the Kazan
CHPP-3 will almost double: from 384.9 to 789.6 MW, and the annual output of
electricity – from 1322 to 4290 million kW/h, reports the press service of the
President of the RT.
For reference
Modernization
of the Kazan CHPP-3 will improve the station's efficiency and meet the growing
demand for heat and power for residents and industrial enterprises of the city
and reduce the deficit in the Kazan energy area. The success of projects of
this level depends not only on high technological solutions but also on the
well-coordinated and effective work of partners. The teams of companies “TAIF”,
“General Electric”, “TGK-16”, and Turkish partner (GAMA) did their best to
ensure that the project was implemented on time and at a high level.
