June 17, Mikhail Chentsov). The “Big Kazan fish broth” for 4 thousand people
was cooked today in the capital of Tatarstan within the framework of the
fishing week, which is taking place in the city from June 16 to 22. Rustam
Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Ilya Shestakov, the deputy minister of
Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the head of the Federal Fisheries
Agency, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Rustam Nigmatullin, the first deputy
prime minister of the RT, Sergey Ivanov, the chairman of the State Committee
for Tourism of the RT, and others visited the venue of the festival “FISH ka”
at the Family Center “Kazan”.
The vivid
area near the Kazanka River was chosen for the first gastronomic fish festival
in Kazan. The kitchen of the festival and a playground with entertainment for
children and adults spread out on the embankment. Anyone can see how craftsmen
work, buy souvenirs, and try fish products in addition to creative classes and
lectures on healthy nutrition on the site near the “Chasha”. 15 food
enterprises of Kazan and 5 enterprises of the “Tatpotrebsoyuz” presented their
assortment of fish dishes and fish broth, prepared by different recipes, to the
guests of the festival. All dishes are prepared from fish, which was planted in
Tatarstan farms.
The
organizers provided a separate program for young Kazan citizens, in which
children can compete in aiming accuracy in the game “Feed the Kazan Cat”,
participate in the quest “Cool Bite”, and swim in a dry pool. Also, parents
with children can attend master classes in painting and modeling, participate
in the “eating” championship of cookies in the form of fish, and see the
beluga, made of flowers and lemons.
The main
event of the fishing week was the preparation of a thousand-liter fish broth by
Oscar Kuchera, a Russian actor and a TV anchorman, together with renowned
Tatarstan’s chefs Dmitry Dyakov and Maksim Agureev. Rustam Minnikhanov took
part in the cooking of the “Big Kazan fish broth” for 4 thousand portions. He
added the main ingredients to the cauldron. Also, the guests went to the site
of one of the lectures, where they talked about healthy nutrition, and tried
fish dishes in one of the trading rows. I. Shestakov together with R.
Minnikhanov took part in the master class on forging and made the iron fish,
the symbol of the festival.
An unusual
festival on the Kazanka embankment attracted both tourists and residents of the
city. Ralina Ismagilova, a resident of Kazan, noted that the fishing week
turned out to be excellent. “I really like fish and that's why I liked the
“FISH ka”. Where else can I try fish broth of carp, trout, and beluga for
free?”, she said. Other guests of the festival shared such opinion, some of
whom came to try the broth with their own spoons and plates. In total, 3
thousand people visited the festival on its first day on June 16, and today, on
June 17, the organizers expect about 7 thousand visitors who will come to watch
the culinary battle with Oscar Kuchera.
The
gastronomic fishing week takes place in Kazan on the days of the Confederations
Cup, during which 32 restaurants will offer their best fish dishes to residents
and guests of the city. Dishes from local fish were put in the restaurants’
menu specifically for the fish week and master classes on cooking are held in
several facilities.
