October 20, Alsu Safina). Today Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, met with the
well-known architect Sergey Choban, who will join the work on renovation of the
Admiralteyskaya Sloboda and will take part in the development of a master plan
for this part of town. “I wish we will get the project, which would be a growth
point in the architecture, culture and public space of Kazan on the basis of
the great work that has been done by combining our efforts and experience”,
said the Mayor. “We hope that we have everything for it”.
The offer
of Ilsur Metshin to attract the eminent architect, who has twice been the
curator of the Russian pavilion at the Architecture Biennale in Venice, is a
member of the Construction Council Fund “Skolkovo’ and the Architectural Board
of the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of Moscow, into the
creative team, involved in the design of the Admiralteyskaya Sloboda, has been
approved by Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, during the
presentation of the project.
Sergey
Choban told the audience that he represents two companies: Moscow office –
“Speech” and the German office – “nps tchoban voss”. During the presentation,
Sergey Choban showed which for master plans are required and what they consist
of, on the example of the projects, carried out for the Russian cities and
Berlin. “The master plan is needed to create a development project, to understand
what parts it includes, what public spaces are needed, the order of
construction, the amount and how they are interrelated. This is a direction; a
scenario in which the algorithm is written for further action then”, said the
specialist.
The Mayor
of Kazan thanked Sergey Choban, because he is ready to become part of a great
team, and expressed gratitude to Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of
Tatarstan, for the fact that he was able to find the necessary financial
resources for the work on the draft of the Admiralteyskaya Sloboda. “The work
is carries out not one year; we have come a long way”, said the Mayor. He
introduced team, which works on the project, to the guest, stressing that each
one of them performs every task.
Tomorrow
Sergey Choban will visit the Admiralteyskaya Sloboda. The Mayor of Kazan said
that the specialist will be able to present his vision of the development of
this area after seeing it with his own eyes. Olesya Baltusova, the Assistant of
the President of the RT, drew attention to the fact that it is important to
work in a short time.
“It is a
great honor for me to work on this project”, said the architect and added that
their company will offer their own versions of the architectural solutions.
The concept
of architectural solutions and the museum exhibition Admiralteyskaya Shipyard
were submitted to the Mayor of Kazan in late August this year. According to
this concept, a museum exhibition is composed of two parts. Modern one, which
includes a lighthouse, a shipyard with historic ships, dock, diving and yachting
school, will be located on a sandy headland area of 36 hectares. And the
historical one with the main building of the museum, which reminds the
Admiralty office, will be located in the place, where the Peter's Shipyard was
in the XVIII century.

of the Executive Committee and the chairman of Committee of improvements,
Sergei Mironov, the head of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts
administration, Tatiana Prokofieva, the chief architect of Kazan, Aleknsandr
Dembich, the head of the Department of urban planning and planning of rural
populated areas of the KSUAE, Timur Kadyrov , the deputy chief architect of Kazan,
took part in the meeting, which was held today in the Executive Committee.
According
to the resource archi.ru, Sergey Choban is a Russian and German architect,
working in different cities of Europe and the Russian Federation. Member of the
Association of German Architects (BDA), the Union of Architects of Russia and
the Union of Artists of Russia, academician of the Moscow branch of the
International Academy of Architecture and Honorary Academician of the Russian
Academy of Arts, winner of architectural awards and member of various
architectural exhibitions. After graduation from the Faculty of Architecture
Institute named after I. Repin of the Academy of Arts of the USSR, he worked in
the architectural studio of V. Fabritsky.
In 1991 he
moved to Germany, where he has worked since 1992 in the Hamburg architectural
office Nietz Prasch Sigl. In 1995 he became managing partner of the office,
which was called nps tchoban voss, and led its office in Berlin. Such buildings
as the cinema “Kubix”, the complex “DomAkvare”, the Jewish Cultural Center and
the synagogue Chabad Lubavitch on Myunstersheshtrasse, the hotel “NHow”, the complex “Mall of
Berlin” and the building of the Museum of architectural drawing (together with
Sergei Kuznetsov) implemented by projects of Sergey Choban in Berlin.
He has
worked on such projects as the Palace of Water Sports in Kazan, micro-town “In
the forest” in the Moscow region, the quarter D1 in the “Skolkovo”, the main
media center of the Olympic Games in Sochi, the Expoforum in St. Petersburg (in
conjunction with the workshop “Evgeny Gerasimov and partners”), the “VTB Ice
Palace” in Moscow, the administrative and business center “Neva Hall” in St.
Petersburg (in conjunction with the workshop “Evgeny Gerasimov and partners”),
headquarters of the company Coca-Cola and others.
