September 16). The indoor swimming pool “Olympiets” has opened in Kazan. Rustam
Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, Vitaly Mutko, the minister of Sport of
the Russian Federation, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Vladimir Leonov, the
minister of Youth and Sport of RT, Corneille Markulesku, the executive director
of the International Swimming Federation, and others took part in the solemn
ceremony.

Minnikhanov noted that the events, which were taking place in Kazan, left a
serious mark in the infrastructure of the capital of Tatarstan. “We managed to
save the three pools in the republic, in which the best athletes from around
the world were competing, after the FINA World Cup. This complex passed to our
school of Olympic reserve, which, I have no doubt, will prepare the best
athletes for the national team of the country”, said the President of
Tatarstan. V. Mutko marked that Kazan in recent years demonstrates the
impressive growth on the development of sport in Russia. “I am delighted that
the base material, available in the republic, yields results. About 30 major
sporting events are held here each year, and Kazan applications are never left unattended,
because the city has shown itself as a reliable partner of the Russian and
world sport. I hope that we will raise talented swimmers, synchronized swimmers and divers at facilities such as the pool “Olympiets”, and many others”, said
V. Mutko.
Then,
Rustam Minnikhanov handed certificate for the purchase of sports equipment to
management of the sports complex. Then V. Mutko handed documents on assignment
of sports titles to several Tatarstan athletes. Irina Prikhodko (International
Master of Sports of Russia), Irina Pronina (Master of Sports of Russia), Alexei
Kuznetsov (Master of Sports of Russia) and Nikita Ganeev (Master of Sports of
Russia) received the award and a badge from the hands of the Minister of Sport
of the Russian Federation.
At the end
Farid Akhmadullin, the director of the Kazan School of Olympic reserve, was
handed the symbolic key to the swimming pool, reports the press service of the
Ministry of Youth and Sport of RT.
The
swimming pool on the basis of the Kazan School of Olympic reserve includes bowl
of 50x26 meters (10 lanes, depth of 2 meters). The object is a legacy of the
FINA World Cup, which passed in the capital of Tatarstan in 2015.
