KZN.RU, August 21, Albert Murtazin). Mayor of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin and Chief
of General Staff of the Armed Forces - First Deputy Defense Minister Valery
Gerasimov laid flowers at the Eternal Flame in Victory Park in Kazan today.
The
ceremony was also attended by First Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Alexei
Pesoshin, Head of Executive Committee of Kazan Denis Kalinkin, head of
administration of Aviastroitelny and New Savinovsky areas Timur Alibaev, as
well as representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation,
the republic's leadership and the administration of Kazan.
The
ceremony participants laid flowers at the Eternal Flame in Memorial colonnade
of Fame, and then observed a minute of silence in memory of the fallen during
the Great Patriotic War. After the wreath-laying ceremony Ilsur Metshin and Valery
Gerasimov took a view at the military equipment exhibited in the park, in
particular the legendary tank "T-34", which was established on the
eve of the anniversary of the Great Victory.
Ilsur
Metshin thanked the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in the person
of Valery Gerasimov for assistance in the search for the legendary tank.
"On the eve of the anniversary of the Victory we turned to you, and you gave
not just full cooperation and invaluable assistance. For us today it is not
just an open air museum, which is of great interest of Kazan citizens and
tourists. You see, how many children and young people come here - this is the
most living example of patriotic education ", - said the Mayor.
In his turn,
Valery Gerasimov expressed gratitude to Ilsur Metshin for the fact that the
city supports the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War so actively.
