Meeting of the Executive Bureau of UCLG will be held in June 2016 in Kazan

(Kazan City KZN.RU, July 31, Zilya Gayfi). In June 2016 a meeting of the Executive Bureau of the World Organization "United Cities and Local Governments" will be held in Kazan. The capital of Tatarstan will be the first city of the Eurasian region, which will host an event of this level. This was announced by Co-President of UCLG, the president of the Eurasian department, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin today at the Congress of Local Authorities of Eurasia, held in the capital's City Hall.

According to the head of the city, one of the priorities of the Eurasian section of UCLG is to expand the geography of the participants. "We need to involve the cities of Russia - Saint Petersburg, Ufa, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Sochi, Saratov, Vladivostok - in the work of the Eurasian department. Participation of the CIS cities and cities of Transnistria - Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia is important too,"- said the Mayor.

During the congress Ilsur Metshin made a proposal to hold the next Council of the Eurasian branch in frames of the fourth UCLG World Congress, which will be held in October 2016 in the city of Bogota in Colombia. The head of the city called on the cities of the world to participate actively in the forthcoming forum. Recall that the Congress is held every three years, and it updates the governing bodies of the world organization.

Kazan will also hold one of the most important statutory activities of the Eurasian section of UCLG. In June 2016, a meeting of the Executive Bureau of the World Organization of UCLG will be held in Kazan. "It will be the first statutory event of the World Organization of UCLG, which will be held in the Eurasian region. Executive Bureau is a very important event, which imposes heavy responsibility on us"- said the Mayor.

 Recall today the Congress of Local Authorities of Eurasia was held in Kazan, it was attended by local and regional leaders of the Eurasian regional branch of the World Organization "United Cities and Local Governments". The Congress was chaired by Co-President of UCLG, the president of the Eurasian department of the organization the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
