Ilsur Metshin met with Kuwait's Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah

Today in the capital's City Hall an official meeting of the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin with the president of the Association of National Olympic Committees, the Sheikh of Kuwait Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah was held. The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Vasil Shaykhraziev and Deputy Head of the Executive Committee for Economic Development Ivan Kuznetsov. The sides discussed prospects of cooperation.

Ilsur Metshin welcomed sheikh and said that he was happy to receive guests of championship, well known in political and sports world. "It is an honor for us to welcome you in our city. We have been preparing for the championship for a long time; whole country took part in this. We know how important sport and the Olympic movement are in Kuwait. We follow the progress of your country, including in the field of sport, and we wish you luck in this way, "- said the Mayor.

Kuwait's Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah headed the Association of National Olympic Committees in 2012; he is also the head of the Olympic Council of Asia. The honored guest arrived in Kazan to participate in the official ceremonies of the World Cup in water sports. We also note that following the resignation of Joseph Blatter as president of FIFA sheikh expressed his desire to become a President of the International Football Federation. Election of head of the organization will be held in February 2016.

Ilsur Metshin asked the guest about impressions about Kazan. As it turned out, the Sheikh of Kuwait has already visited the city during the Universiade. "I am honored to be invited to Kazan. I'm glad to see again those with whom I met during the preparation for the Universiade, to enjoy the generosity and hospitality of the city. Kazan and Tatarstan are known in Kuwait thanks to the cooperation of our countries ", - said Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah.

During the meeting, sheikh said that the city and the republic pay special attention to the development of sports and youth movement. This, according to Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, is the points of contact for the both sides. The head of the Association of National Olympic Committees appreciated the readiness of the city to the championship in Aquatics-2015. "We see how Kazan is developing rapidly, the importance given to sport and youth. I participated in the development of the first in the history of our government program of development of the country with special attention paid to the sport. I see that Kazan has put the same strategic goal - to develop the sport and to involve young people in it, "- said the sheikh.

During the meeting, Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah told about Kuwait's readiness to cooperate with Kazan and Tatarstan. Ilsur Metshin assured the guest that Kazan is open to joint activities in all fields. At the end of the meeting Ilsur Metshin presented a memorable gift to the guest.

Recall, the World Championships in Aquatics in Kazan will be held from July 24 to August 9, 2015. It is expected that the competition will be attended by 2,400 athletes, 1,800 officials, and will bring together representatives from 190 countries. The record number of awards in the history of the championship will be given in Kazan - 75 sets in six sports.
