(Kazan, KZN.RU, June 1, by Adelya Galieva) Kazan received a grant in the amount of one million rubles from the Acting President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov for winning first place among Tatarstan cities in the number of prize winners of subject Olympiads. The funds will be spent on the development of the Olympiad movement – support for students representing the capital of Tatarstan on the national and international levels and teachers who prepare children for competitions. This was stated by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at the Museum-Reserve "Kazan Kremlin" in celebration of the International Children's Day.
The festivities dedicated to the International Children's Day were awaiting the young and their parents at several city venues. But perhaps most kids gathered in the Kazan Kremlin, where they could find entertainment for all tastes: from scientific experiments to a rock concert, from a zoo to a children's musical and dance workshops. The mayor of Kazan, accompanied by the director of the museum-reserve, Zilya Valeyeva, visited the main venues in the Kremlin, had his picture taken with children and praised young talents of Kazan.
Ilsur Metshin also joined a healthy lifestyle project entitled "Independent Children." Kids tied a blue ribbon to his wrist as a symbol of pure sky and freedom of bad habits. In addition, the mayor took part in another project initiated by a children's public organization: he completed the poster sentence "I am happy because..." with the words "I live in Kazan!"
Finally, the mayor greeted Kazan youngsters on the occasion of the International Children's Day. "I have one wish: may there always be peaceful blue sky, sunshine, and may all the kids be happy. They are the most precious thing we have," said I. Metshin.
