(Kazan, KZN.RU, May 23, by Albert Murtazin). The city authorities will do everything to ensure that Kazan children grow up talented and have every opportunity to expand their abilities and talents, said Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at today's Business Monday meeting, commenting on the news that the capital of Tatarstan has been named as the most musical city in Russia.
The mayor said that according to a study conducted by a major cartographic reference portal, the capital of Tatarstan was the most musical city in Russia. All the metropolitan areas of the country participated in the ranking. In the study, experts counted the number of music schools, conservatories, vocal and music societies and then divided that figure by 100 thousand inhabitants.
"The inhabitants of the capital of Tatarstan have the best chances to study music, with five music schools for every 100 thousand residents," the mayor quoted the statistic. Yekaterinburg won silver, while Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Ufa ranked third. Moscow and St. Petersburg received 7th and 8th places.
Ilsur Metshin thanked the organizers of the study and the jury. "Although the competition was unofficial, we are very pleased that the number of music schools and vocal studios put us in the first place. This is our policy – we want our children to grow up talented and to have every opportunity to develop their multifaceted talents," said the mayor of Kazan, noting that the city administration will continue to work in this direction.
