Kazan residents invited to visit new V.I. Lenin Museum
(Kazan, KZN.RU, May 22). The completely renovated Lenin Museum opened in Kazan today. Acting President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Russia Gennady Zyuganov were the guests of honor.
Created in 1937, the Lenin Museum is one of the oldest in Kazan. The renovation, which lasted four years, has helped to preserve a quaint corner of old Kazan: a sample of wooden architecture of the second half of the 19th century – Orlova's urban estate, where the Ulyanovs lived in a two-story wing of the manor from September 1888 to the beginning of May 1889.
During the inspection of the renovated museum Rustam Minnikhanov said that history should be treated with care. "We need to preserve the appearance of our cities. We are seriously concerned with the preservation of our sacred places that are attractive to our guests and tourists,"- said the head of the Republic. He also called the Vladimir Lenin House-Museum unique. "We should be proud of such places," said Rustam Minnikhanov.
