(Kazan, KZN.RU, March 6, by Zilya Gayfi). Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin supported holding a mosaic sculpture festival in the capital of Tatarstan. The idea to hold a competition of hard landscaping in the Parks and Gardens Year was suggested during the mayor's meeting with entrepreneurs, held at the hotel Riviera.
According to Elvira Sibgatullina, mosaic artist, there is a shortage of beautiful, high-quality sculptures in Kazan. "In the Parks and Gardens Year, it would be a good idea to hold a large-scale sculpture festival involving citizens and to stage a competition and exhibition of sketches," she said. The sketch contest will be held in April, and the festival itself – in the middle of May, in time for World Parks Day.
Ilsur Metshin supported the idea of a mosaic sculpture festival in Kazan, noting that the city has enough spaces for the project. "Thank you so much. You cannot imagine how pleasant it is to listen to suggestions of concerned, talented people. Last year, we held the first hard landscaping competition; the works were exhibited in the Old Tatar Settlement. This year, we have 32 parks and gardens to be renovated during the summer. A park without hard landscaping is just a green space. If there are quality works presented at the festival, they will be implemented," said the mayor.
