(Kazan, KZN.RU, January 19, by Zilya Gayfi). By the end of 2014, the "People's Control" of the Kazan Executive Committee received more than 11,000 letters from city dwellers. Most residents were concerned about area improvement, traffic management, public transportation and the "Accessible Environment" program, said Elena Toscheva, head of the Administrative Control and Anti-Corruption Department of the Executive Committee, at today's Business Monday meeting.
Summing up the work of "People's Control," Elena Toscheva noted that 11,336 letters were received over the past year, which is 34% more than in 2013. "A total of 21,558 letters were received in the republic in 2014, i.e., the proportion of complaints relating to the activities of the city Executive Committee, is 52%. The leading topics were area improvement, traffic management, on-road and off-road vehicle operation and accessible environment," she said.
Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin said that "People's Control" is an indicator of public trust. "This is the most important area of municipal work since we work for the people. The number of letters is huge, which shows that people generally trust us. Citizens' letters are a kind of litmus test of the work that each of us, including me, is performing. People judge about us and our business qualities by our work and professionalism. A change in the nature of complaints should be noted: leaking roofs, broken elevators, basements with dripping pipes – all this in the past. Today, people are mostly concerned about courtyard improvement. This should be our next goal," said the head of the city.
