(KZN.RU, April 9, by Ekaterina Andreyeva) In May, a Universiade "Culture Park" of almost six hectares and a capacity of 30,000 spectators will start to be laid out in front of the Palace of Farmers in Kazan. This was reported by Deputy Director General of the Executive Board "Kazan 2013" Igor Sivov at a meeting of the Games Preparation Headquarters.
According to him, the park will be a major cultural venue of the city from July 4 to 17. In the daytime -- from 12.00 to 6 p.m. -- the site will feature the best performers of Tatarstan. Big concerts will be held in the evening -- from 6 to 11 p.m. Igor Sivov reminded that every night in July, unique street shows by Cirque du Soleil will be presented in the Park from July 7 to 17
The second important venue of the Cultural Universiade -- the so-called lounge area – will be located in the Universiade Village. There will be nightly shows for the athletes, coaches and delegation leaders.
I.Sivov said that despite the traditional vacations in the summer months, this year during the Games, the cultural institutions will operate in a special mode and entertain Kazan residents and guests with their best numbers.
Thus, six Kazan theaters will work in July presenting 48 theatrical productions, 14 of which being for children. It should also be mentioned that the opera and ballet festival at the M. Jalil Theater will be held from July 6 to 17. It will feature famous performers from around the world. The 3rd Rakhmaninov International Festival "The White Lilac" will be moved to coincide with the Games. Six museums will work longer hours in July.
