This year, gymnasium
No.12 with the Tatar language of education in the Moskovsky district of Kazan
was among the 30 educational institutions where the food halls have been
renovated. After the renovation and installation new furniture and equipment, the
number of seats has doubled. The Mayor of the city Ilsur Metshin inspected the results
of the work.

of school canteens is an important task for us. Healthy nutrition has a
positive impact on educational achievements of students, - the head of the city
stressed. - As of September 1, 144 canteens are already operating in the city
in the format of school restaurants – this is 78% of their total number.”
Presently, 457
school students and 35 teachers work at the gymnasium. In addition to the canteen
in the gymnasium, which was built in 2011, the roof was repaired this year, the
cost of the work carried out is estimated at 1.6 million rubles.
Before the
renovation, the 409 sq.m. food hall was designed for 80 seats, now it
accommodates 176 students. This was achieved by reducing the kitchen area. The
total cost of renovation amounted to 15.5 million rubles – new furniture and
equipment were purchased with these funds, as well as construction work was
carried out. Including 802 thousand rubles for the purchase of additional
equipment was allocated by the Department of Food and Social Nutrition of
Kazan.
I. Metshin greeted
the students and talked with the chefs of the canteen. On this day, they cooked
meatballs, pilaf with chicken, apple and carrot salads for school students. The
dishes cooked by the students at the technology lesson were shown to the Mayor.
For reference,
this year renovation work took place in 31 catering units at 30 schools in
Kazan. On September 1, 144 renovated school restaurants opened in the capital
of Tatarstan – this is 78% of the total number of canteens. And over the past
four years, due to the reconstruction of canteens and the construction of new
schools, the number of seats in canteens has increased by almost 7,700 seats.
