In Kazan, one of
the traditional locations for the festive events on the occasion of 9 May will
become the Victory Park. In the run-up to the festive events that will take
place here, the military equipment that required repair were put in order, in
addition, the landscaping of the territory adjacent to the new monument to the
Warriors- Internationalists is almost completed. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur
Metshin inspected the readiness of the park for the celebration of the Victory
Day, and also invited residents of the city together with their children to
visit the festive sites.
For more than a
month, the cleaning works and landscaping of territories are carried out in the
city, and on the eve of the May holidays, a citywide clean-up event was held in
Kazan. “Traditionally, the city is preparing to celebrate the May holidays, especially
the Victory Day. Now the landscaping works are being completed, we are starting
to plant the first flowers,”- Ilsur Metshin noted.
To date, all
fences at the Victory Park have been painted, granite tiles have been renovated,
and some samples of military equipment have been repaired. The Soviet truck
ZIS-5 requires more frequent renovation, which is very popular among young
Kazan residents.
This year, special
attention was paid to the part of the park where the new monument to the Warriors-
Internationalists is located. The concept of the monument was chosen during the
competition, the author of the project of the monument was a member of the
Union of Artists of Russia and Tatarstan Alexander Kislov. The sculptural
composition “After the battle” with a height of 3.2 m (with the rock-base – 4.5
m) is made of bronze. The monument is a composition of three Warriors-Internationalists-a
wireman, a commander and a rifleman.
In addition, a
small memorial alley was located next to the monument –with the names of the
Afghan soldiers on the plaques.
According to
experts, construction and installation works are completed by 98%, in the
coming days the landscaping of the territory adjacent to the monument will be
completed. Workers install paving stones on an area of 200 sq. m., as well as a
rolled lawn on an area of 800 sq. m. Trees and perennial flowers will also be
planted here.
“We invite all
residents of Kazan with their children to visit all the festive sites. This is
very important for patriotic education, to ensure that everyone remembers the
great feat of our Soviet people. And, of course, our dear veterans and visitors
of the capital are more than welcome,”- Ilsur Metshin addressed the residents
of the city.
Together with the
Mayor of the city, the territory of the park was inspected by Igor
Salyakhutdinov, chair of the Committee for Land Improvement of the city, and Timur
Alibayev, head of the administration of the Aviastroitelny and Novo-Savinovsky
districts.
Last year, a new
monument to the Soviet soldier was opened in the park, honoring of the 75th
anniversary of the Great Victory.
