(KZN.RU, February 22). Today, Valery Gerasimov, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the RF, presented the Order of Zhukov to the Kazan Tank School. The event also included the opening of the monument to the Hero-tanker located on the territory of the school.
Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Mintimer Shaimiev, the State Councilor of the RT, Rustam Nigmatullin, the first deputy prime minister of the RT, Asgat Safarov, the head of the Presidential Administration of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and others attended the event.
Valery Gerasimov noted that today the Kazan Tank School has the training and material base necessary for successful work and trained teaching staff. “For success in the preparation of command personnel, the school was awarded the Order of Zhukov by the President of Russia. I congratulate all veterans and graduates of the school on this award”, the head of the Russian General Staff addressed the audience.
R. Minnikhanov emphasized that this event is doubly significant for the school since it takes place in the year of the centenary of the educational institution. He reminded the participants of the celebration of the rich history of the school. “The Kazan Tank School has deep historical roots. Over the century of its existence, the requirements of the time and the name of the school itself have changed. Specialists for the Armed Forces of our Motherland studied in these walls, its graduates demonstrated the best results on the battlefields and in daily service”, said the President of the RT. He added that wherever the graduates of the school were sent, they were an example of honor, courage, and dedication.
“More than 50 graduates were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of Russia. Valery Gerasimov, the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the RF, the first deputy minister of Defense, Army General, is among them. There is another Hero of Russia among the graduates of the school: a courageous warrior, a real officer and our countryman, Lieutenant Alexey Kozin. He gave his life, bravely fighting in the North Caucasus. It is gratifying that today the generation of the defenders of the fatherland is equally devotedly serving the country and its people”, said R. Minnikhanov.
In conclusion, the head of the republic added that Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, in his address to the Federal Assembly pointed out the tremendous work done to strengthen the country's army and fleet. The Republic played a significant role in this process.
“Having a powerful defense-industrial complex, Tatarstan makes a significant contribution to the common cause. The republic pays special attention to the development of the material and technical base of the Tank School. Over the years, the leadership and residents of Tatarstan have developed warm and friendly relations with the staff of the educational institution. We will continue to provide full support to the military and cadets of the school”, concluded Rustam Minnikhanov.
Further, those present were read out a decree announcing the Tatarstan President’s Gratitude to the entire School’s staff, reports the press service of the President of the RT.
